Union county has been on the upswing for several years, yet lately there have been shootings/muggings.

How many people have been killed with guns while the NC GA fiddles with bathroom laws?

I don't think you'll get much defense for Monroe from most of C-D's Union County residents. Not to mention this incident was 10+ miles south from even downtown Monroe.
