My mom will be moving down here as soon as she sells her home in NJ. Anyone know of any adult communities? She would prefer a ranch style home. I would prefer somewhere where that is maintenance free (grass, snow, etc). Also, somewhere close to shopping. We are looking for something to buy not rent. Thanks.

If you mean a 55+ community, she should check out Sun City Carolina Lakes. It is in Lancaster SC -- my parents just moved there in March and they love it.

Try The Four Seaons on Gold Hill road in Ft. Mill/Tega Cay.

Depending on what she is looking for there are several active adult communities down there. You can find ones that are active adult only (no age restriction) or those that have age restrictions. Both types have HOAs with monthly dues that take care of all the outside yard work as well as taking care of the streets and community areas.

If you Google "active adult communities" you can find links that will send you to places that list all the active communities available in various states. I'm not sure I'm allowed to put the link here that we used.
