Anyone who routinely drives on I-77 from downtown to Mooresville already knows this. That road is a hazard to one's health and integrity of one's vehicle.

It has only gotten worse in the year since this report was released.

Yup. They so poorly painted the new stripes and so poorly removed the old ones that its really anyone's guess as to where the lanes are. Night and bad weather and it is impossible.

Not to mention potholes, debris everywhere, etc.

Literally or figuratively, looking forward to more insight than my busting NCDOT's chops inference.

I know a private company is doing the work but doesn't the NCDOT have to ensure the quality of the work being done, not only the lanes being built but also the current ones that are modified/shifted/changed? If so, the NCDOT has yet again screwed the Charlotte region by allowing this private company to create a very unsafe situation. I'm not surprised by it either.
