I am looking for any kind of access to swimming in natural bodies of water in the charlotte area. I do NOT want a beach, but rather, just somewhere i can drive to a trail or something, walk through the woods and jump in. For example, i've heard there are access points to the Catawba, but cant find information on where they are. The only information i found is over 3 years old and development, i know, has reduced the number of these places. I am from the country and am used to just walking down to the river....
Any info on Lake Wylie, Norman, Catawba, Tuckertown Reservoir, Mt. Island Lake, etc?
