More recent changes at WSOC. Weekend anchor/reporter Liz Foster has departed the station and replaced by Genevieve Curtis. And have not seen anchor/reporter Paul Boyd recently. Not sure what happened with him. He came from Inside Edition and did a good job. And morning reporter Mark Barber has also departed.

Speaking of Channel 9, they are now at reduced power for the next month as FCC mandated tower work begins as they install a new antenna and transmitter. Should be an improved signal. But in the interim they may be periodically off the air and will be using a temporary antenna with a reduced signal. As a result, the translator towers that repeat the signal are also affected with a weaker signal. When it is all said and done in September, the main signal from Charlotte should be a bit better, but the translator on Crowder's Mtn. may be more difficult to receive as they move to a different channel on VHF. That remains to be seen.

WJZY tower work is underway and their new stronger antenna has been installed on top of the tower. Testing in August and ready to go in September. Not sure the status of WCNC repack but they are also scheduled for upgrade by September with better signal. Don't know if they are behind schedule or if work is yet underway.

WSOC has been coming and going, and occasionally I can't get either signal. They've, apparently, quit providing a signal for WAXN from Crowders Mountain. I wonder if they plan to sell it. I expect that I should get the Crowders Mountain signal with no problem. It's no more than 4 miles, but I usually get the main signal. I expect that the Crowders Mountain signal is meant for people who are actually "out there".

I wonder if Paul Boyd left or is taking vacation. I didn't see Allison Latos for quite a while. At one point, they had her paired up with Joe Bruno.

They have a regular, female, reporter doing sports interviews part of the time. I still want them to send Joe Bruno to cover "Iggles" fans when the Eagles come to town.

This has been very annoying. I have to reprogram several times a day. The worst reception is PBS. Frequently I get neither 33 from Asheville nor 58 from Concord.

Two weeks ago I didn't get WJZY during the daytime for 5 days. I accidentally got WCNC for a few minutes the other day, when I reprogrammed. Maybe they'll restore coverage to us. That would be a novelty.

WJZY was reduced power for 2 weeks while they worked on the tower. They are back to normal and the new stronger signal will debut in September. WSOC signals from the main tower and the translator will be reduced or off the air periodically for the next month while they work on the towers. Their new signals should also debut in September. WCNC is supposed to change in September also, but that remains to be seen.

The WSOC main signal is mia frequently lately. The translator sometimes vanishes, too. WYFF is solid, most of the time, though.

WSOC will remain MIA for the next few weeks until the tower work is completed. The translator may also be affected. New signal around Sept. 6th.

The main signal comes and goes. It's annoying. Thanks for the date in September.

WSOC Chief Meteorologist Steve Udelson is off the air while recuperating from double hip replacement surgery. There is video report on the WSOC website. John Ahrens is the main fill in, and Keith Monday, Tony Sadiku, and Jaclyn Shearer rotate covering the other shifts.

Still don't know what happened to anchor/reporter Paul Boyd, but don't see him on the website. He was very good and came from national program Inside Edition.

There's something fishy going on. Keith Monday appears to have been changed to part time, although they still advertise him as the morning meteorologist. Last weekend was a surprise. The Saturday morning anchor was Mark Taylor with Keith doing the weather.
