St. Matthews Catholic Church is currently working, on behalf of the Diocese of Charlotte, to purchase approximately 34 acres in Waxhaw at the corner of Waxhaw Marvin Rd and Kensington Dr. There are currently over 8,500 registered families at St Matthews Church located 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy.

That is close to Our Lady Of Grace on 75 (Waxhaw Highway) just over the state line. I guess the Charlotte Diocese doesnt want the money going to the Charleston Diocese.

Does anyone know the plans? It would be nice if it included a school.

I thought I read there would be a school, but I can't find a link to confirm. I was wondering about that area that is just over the border too. They are 5 minutes apart tops.

Wasn't it about a year ago that the neighborhood had a fit when it came to light that Food Lion owned it with the intention of possibly developing it?

I'm anxiously looking forwarding to this. We go to St. Matthews and it's busting at the seams. We need another Catholic church.

I looked up this church. It's odd, no mass on Sundays at all. The masses they do have are on Saturday at a rec center and Thursday at a parish house. Doesn't sound like a regular Catholic church. So bring on the St. Matthews in Waxhaw
