We chose a fiberglass pool and have been very pleased. We used Osterhus Outdoors. They did a nice job.

We are in the process of building a pool and went with Blue Haven. We got quotes from 4 different builders and Blue Haven blew all them out of the water. One of the quotes we received was from Edgewater and we were very disappointed with their customer service. They didn't even come to our house to look at our property, they had us come to their showroom and just quoted us for the pool that they had built there at it was crazy expensive for the size and what they offered. Never followed up with us or anything and it was a shame because their showroom isn't too far from our house. Blue Haven came out and spent a considerable amount of time measuring and studying our yard. Then they came back to our house with a digital model and a design that was not cookie cutter! Then they followed up with us to make sure we didn't have questions but were not pushy at all! We are almost done and it's been a pretty smooth process. It's taken a little longer than planned but all because of the weather, something out of their control.

Thank you all for your responses!
We have a quote from Blue Haven and Anthony Sylvan so far. We have Edgewater and Superior scheduled for quotes this coming week. We've put a spread sheet together to compare product/price and most importantly customer service is #1. We hope to decide after the 4th quote

Unfortunately, there are some shady pool builders in Charlotte. Some have changed business names several times over the years when bad reputations have caught up with them.

Keep in mind that the references they give you will be their happiest clients. They won't tell you the horror stories or give you the names of those clients.

Even among supposedly higher quality, sometimes more reliable service providers, how many proactively share their least satisfied clients' contact details or horror stories? Even with yesterday's purportedly more respected pool companies or other companies, trust (some) but (do everything reasonable to) verify. Even some known neighborhood websites, service provider recommendation sites, G00gle, Ye|p, etc. can be and are tweeked with dubious comments/references by dodgy service providers, family members, friends, etc. Proactively seeking and obtaining neighbors', co-workers', other reliable individuals' own experiences is one potentially beneficial row to hoe.

If company X won't even bother to visit a home, company, etc. site, appears slow to respond, seems reluctant to directly answer questions, avoids documenting details in writing (minimally email) etc., perhaps it's best to move on to other companies a prospective customer can legitimately verify has operated locally under the same company name and management for at least several years (pre-economic downturn), made it through economic downturns, hasn't recently changed ownership, ideally employs their own employees (versus come and go sub-contractors, johnny come lately crews, etc.), etc. Trust, but verify!

We have built two pools- one at my last house and one at my current house. We love having it. We used Superior both times and had no issues. We had multiple quotes both times and they were able to beat them. Good luck!

Great choice staying away from Edgewater, without bashing them too much, their customer service was/is non existent.
