Can someone point me to an existing thread about this?
I found the city of Charlotte page, just looking for some confirmation. I found a thread earlier, now I can't seem to find it. I'm trying to go from Raleigh to the Marriott City Center hotel. Good ways to get there are Trade Street (closed I think) and Church (closed temporarily maybe?). I'm visiting August 18, 19, 20.
Yesterday I was playing with my phone (Google maps) and it routed me through Church St. Today it suggests Trade, which I think is closed indefinitely. At least I thought so. I also have Waze, so maybe that is a better option.
West Trade Street is closed for trolley construction but from 77-S the detour is well marked and easy to follow. If you can avoid arriving from 4-6 pm on 85 and 77 you will have little trouble.

There is currently major streetcar construction on Trade Street. Fortunately, eastbound Trade is open for local traffic only. In August, you should be able to take Church Street to Trade Street from I-277 south. You'll be making a left onto Trade Street from Church Street. That left will take you eastbound on Trade for about 1 block and you'll see the hotel's main entrance on the left. The valet will do the rest (it's a valet only parking policy there I believe).

There's an entrance on Church that has underground self-parking.

I'm aware of the Church Street parking, but I think Marriott doesn't want guests taking their own vehicles there. I'm not certain, but I do believe Marriott Center City is a valet only situation for the OP. If there is in fact self-parking, that's great for the OP. I live here, so whenever I stay uptown for a date night with my wife we just take the light rail or a ride share. I rarely ever drive into uptown mainly because of the added parking expense.

If you’re comfortable with leaving your car parked in a deck/parking lot, you should ride the light rail into Uptown. It will cost less than paying for parking + avoid the road closures.

I was thinking that as well; if the OP has light luggage that would be smart. A daily train ticket purchase would get you free access to the parking garages near UNC Charlotte. The walk from the arena station to the Marriott Center City hotel is only three blocks. If luggage is light and the OP doesn't need to drive much on this visit, I'd leave my car at a lynx station near UNC Charlotte.
Appreciate the help with directions. We are ok with valet parking.
Oh wow, I just realized that is Charlotte Pride weekend. You might want to call the hotel for the best directions into the place on that weekend. There are multiple street closures near Tryon Street during Pride weekend.

I plan to come in Saturday on Church Street, parallel to Tryon. I tried a google search for street closures. Just got a list of Pride events. ???
