Hi - we currently live in Cornelius and love it but cannot afford a house on the lake so we are considering Denver, NC. We do have two small children, ages 2 and 4 so we want to make sure the move would be good for all of us. Any experience raising kids in Denver? I realize I won’t have as much stores, restaurants, etc at my finger tips as we do now but looks like Denver is really growing and has much more out there than before. Schools are also important. Any advice/opinions would be great!
We live on the lake in Denver and love it. Similar situation, kids are nearly 4, nearly 2, and 7 months.
16/73 has 95% of the basics (grocery, pharmacy, urgent care, fast casual, fast food, gas, Walmart, Lowes, etc). Birkdale/Cornelius is 10 minutes down 73 for the rest (and so is the congestion!).
East and North Lincoln school districts (both serve Denver area) have good reputations, and there are also charter schools in the area (Lincoln Charter). Plenty of young families around for the kids.
The major downside for me is nothing is really walkable or bikeable. So, walking/biking to the playground with the kids isn't really going to happen.
