I will be relocating to the Charlotte area from CO in the next couple months. I would like to stay within 30 minutes of Denver, NC because I have family there.

Can anyone recommend pet friendly apartments in that area? I have two LARGE dogs (I don't consider them large but it seems many apartments do). They are both labs, one is 70 and the other 60 pounds. It will be just me and the two dogs.

I would prefer something newer, safe area, 1 bedroom is fine, max rent of $800. Somewhere similar to Birkdale but they don't accept large pets.

TIA!

I did a quick search for you:

Camden Sedgebrook is right at Birkdale Village. The weight limit is 65 lbs (your 70 lb dog can "lose" 5 lbs, right).

Carrington Park, 19401 Carrington Club Dr. in Cornelius is farther out from Denver, but it says "call for details" but it lists that they accept large dogs.

Bexley at Harborside, 18510 The Commons Blvd., Cornelius does not list a weight restriction, just breed restrictions. Give them a try.

Put it at $800 and you've got a deal. Only kidding...

To the other poster, thanks for the help! I have taken a look at a couple of those previously and some seem to have policies that state max weight of 75 pounds between whatever number of pets. I will definitely call and check them out though!

check out renting a condo out instead of an apartment complex. Atleast then you have the flexibility of having pets because usually its up to the landlord. I personally don't mind at all and I am sure there are others who do not mind either.

You could probably score a 2/2 condo in my neighborhood for $800/month, just have to look!

I've been looking on craigslist as well hoping to at least see something of interest there...problem being I don't know a whole lot about the areas so it is difficult to judge based on that. I could have a family member go look.

I'm not sure how much a 1bedroom costs, but I have lived in Eastover Ridge for the past year, and think its great for dogs. We have a dog park in the complex for the dogs. Oh btw, my dogs are about 30lbs and the 2nd is 60ish, but I've seen a few dogs bigger than my 60lber.

I know Marina Shores has no weight limit. At least, I knew several owners that had 1 or more large breeds including rotties, dobermans, german shephards, and great danes. Plus, it's right on the water! My wife and I paid $860 a month for 2BR water view.

Marina Shores said that the weight limit was 100 lbs total. So I left that off the list. But yes, maybe they are more flexible than their written guidelines so it's worth a try!

When we were wanting to move from Charlotte to Denver, we sold our house first. And we didn't have another house lined up. So we lived, temporarily, in an apartment in Denver.

Look at Riverwalk, in Denver, not too far up Hwy 16, just past Hwy 73. Riverwalk Apartments They allow pets. We moved there with our 40# dog. And others in the apartments had dogs too. I think you might even be able to rent the place within your price range.
