I hate ants! One crawled up my ankle and bite me - 1 tiny bite - before I killed it. But he got his revenge - it has not stopped itching for 3 days now. And he invited his friends into our house! I thought they might be fire ants, but they seem to be too big, black, and hard to kill - tough little devils!

So I have two questions:
1. What's good to stop the itching ( I have been using Bendyrl cream but that has not helped much).
2. What is best product to get rid of these nasty things? Something safe for cats, but no kids around.

Thanks for any advise.

Go to CVS and buy the CVS brand Hydrocordisone for the itch they also have one that is made with oatmeal as well about 4.99 a tube.

Other than having your home treated by professional you can get those electronic repellers that you plug in your wall sockets.
I would be concern if they are coming in droves due to you dont know where its nest is.

I had an ant problem a while ago. We bought some ant repellant stakes and placed them around the house. We also made sure that all shrubs and trees weren't touching our house.

I'm not sure who makes the ant stakes but they're available at the supermarket or Target. The worked great for us.

As far as the itching. Try asking your local pharmacist.

We had a little black ant in the house problem, and we have a cat, so I didn't want to use poison. The first thing we did was to figure out how they were coming in, and plug it up. (I'm quite the ace with the caulk gun!) They disappeared for a while then...they came in again! We found the second hole and plugged it up. No more ants! (for a few weeks now)

However, I found a ton of ants around my pond and some of my plants. I'm going to put down some bait for them and see what happens...

There's also a brand sold at walmart that kills ants and roaches and is safe to use around pets. I forget the name of it, but it works and its cheaper than Raid. It's mint oil and rosemary in the spray so it smells good.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm going to buy an ant farm, and every ant I find in my house in the future is going to get dropped into it! They might as well amuse me.
