I think we need to atleast double the current amount of officers, more 911 operators and awareness.
Depending on what I need from them, I live less than a 5 min walk from a station and they take an hour sometimes. This is in uptown. Its also not unusual for me to be waiting on a uniform and see one pull up at the shell station for a drink.

But its been like that no matter where I've lived, other than my hometown's sheriff's department.. when I was a kid they were on me like white on rice about somethings, lol

Also, I think 'cruel and unusual' has been sissified in the past 100 years. Prison should be the worst place in the country to have to be in, yet for a lot of people its a better life than being outside.

Why can't we just have Thunderdome with Tina running the place?

Why aren't there minimum sentences for all crimes?? Why is it that if someone has a good lawyer they can get off?? How about 2 years minimum for a robbery? How about 5 years for armed robbery? Life (or execution) for murder/rape/child abuse?

Seriously, many of these thugs know they'll be back out on the street shortly after they commit the crime.

We have such a problem with repeat offenders and violent crimes here in Charlotte that it's insane.

In the last week, there has been a murder and a shooting incident within proximity of my neighborhood! Ridiculous.

Concealed carry permit, here I come!

Glad I live and hang around Uptown. Crime is really not much of a factor at all. Very safe and I have never felt threatened for the last 7 years. Watch the news and you never hear about crime in Uptown Charlotte...it is always in the suburbs.

The amusing part from a native is that historically, and up until recent times, the opposite was the case. We would consider it, but with kids love having a yard and all that.
We also like Rosewood at Sharon Amity and Providence.

I agree that it is odd how we cater to these criminals. Sure get locked away, here is tv time for you, free meals, a cushy lifestyle. Gee that sounds soooooooo terrible Is it any wonder why these criminals don't care if they get locked away, b/c they either know that they will be let back out when there isn't room for them, or they will be staying in somewhat luxury for free.

Charlotte is a top-ten'er for the potential juicy terrorist target list given it's banking industry, tall buildings, and close proximity to nuke plants. Not saying I agree with that thinking (or the compilation of a list like this), but that's the answer to your question.
