I am planning to be relocated to Charlotte by the end of August. I was wondering what sports will be going on at that time for young children. I ask because I hear that some sports are played at during different seasons in the South due to the weather difference from the North. Also can you recommend a good AAU basketball, baseball or soccer team for a 10 year old boy? I would like to get my son involved in something as soon as we get there so that he can make friends and distract him from the move.

Park and rec has a good program. They are also more affordable than the Y's athletics program (and you don't need a membership).

Park Sharon Athletic Association has an awesome baseball program. Sign ups are right now for the fall.

Mostly sports are fall and spring and carry over to in between seasons for challenge teams and all stars for children that excel. There are also tons of summer camp programs where your kids can meet other local kids like HQ4 - they run a baseball summer camp by week. It's run by the coach of the Ardrey Kell HS, known as one of the best HS baseball coaches in the area.

There are also soccer, baseball and other sports camps all over charlotte. What part of Charlotte are you moving to?
