I just found out that all of my in-laws are coming for a visit next month. And by all of my in-laws I mean ALL of them; 12 to be exact. They want me to rent a beach house so that they can hang out for a week. So my question for all of you experts is: which beach is best for a VERY diverse group of people and which websites are best to visit and research the possible rentals. Thanks in advance to everyone. I think I'll start drinking wine now in preparation

Ocracoke Island won best beach in the US in 2007! It is BEAUTIFUL! I also agree with Kiawah! Gorgeous place. Great for golfers, too!

I agree w/ you 100% - Ocracoke is my favorite NC coastal area. Unfortunately, it is just so darn far to drive from here - or I would head there more often!

I guess I should have mentioned Hilton Head, too . . . especially if there are golfers in the group.

Very nice beaches. Typically, lots of nice rentals, too. Often large homes for rent. Not inexpensive but for packing people into a large home - good solution.

Once you are through drinking your wine ...and have narrowed what beach you will be going to....you might check out Vacation Rentals by Owner (vrbo.com)...which we have had really good luck with. Also for reviews of hotels/resorts/etc....I don't leave home w/o checking Trip Advisor first!

Good Luck!
