How do you get rid of this stuff and get decent grass without spending a fortune? Any one have any good ideas other than cement? Thanks

concentrated round-up, nuke it, then till up the soil and reseed/resod.

Doesn't it just suck??? Unfortunately with my HOA I can't change my grass otherwise I'd go fescue. However, sssshhhh, when I fence in my property, I will change it behind the fence

I hate the stuff. We moved from our last house b/c I hated it so much. It's only green a few months out of the year and the rest off the time it's loose and brown and constantly gets tracked in the house. I made sure our new house did not have it and we love our non bermuda grass yard!!! I love seeing green grass year round.

Well that would foolish beyong all recognition. Your neighbors Bermuda would take over you Fescue (fence or no fence) and then you would have one really ugly lawn. In a battle between Fesuce and Bermuda. Fescue will lose everytime. Well maintained Bermuda is beautiful and used allot less water. Fescue is just one drought away from death and resod. You don't even have to overseed Bermuda, it overseeds itself. Yes, it is a pain to keep out of the flowerbeds and it goes dormant in the winter, but if everybody in your neighborhood has it, at least you will have company with your brown lawn

I know someone who has fescue in an all bermuda neighborhood and it looks awesome. They just did a really thin dirt/mulch line on the property line to separate from the neighbors yard.

My builder supplied Bermuda sod up front and when we first moved here we seeded the sides and back with Fescue. Yes, it was green all winter but once we hit the high 90s it burned right up which made us just face the fact that Bermuda is the way to go down here. I ended up tilling up all the Fescue and laying Bermuda sod on the sides and the back and could not be happier. So while all my friends lawns with Fescue are brown now, mine is a nice dark green and I am sure it will be vice versa come late fall and winter which to me I would rather have a great looking lawn in the summer months rather than the winter.
If there were no water restrictions in place which seems like every county other than Monroe right now you may be able to keep Fescue looking great with an automatic irrigation system in this high heat.
FYI, You can keep your yard green in the winter months with Bermuda by over seeding with an annual Rye but be warned the stuff grows like crazy and you will find yourself mowing twice a week all winter. I made the mistake of doing this last year and regretted it about a month in. I look forward to taking the winter off from mowing this year.

I love my bermuda grass. Never have to irrigate and it's thick and lush all summer.

I overseed with a winter rye for green while the bermuda is dormant.

No problem mon!

Default Bermuda Grass

So your saying rather than fight it just mix rye in with it to keep it green in the winter and keep the Bermuda for the summer? Any other thoughts. Thanks
