Default Where is the best place to live in Charlotte

My plans are to relocate to the Charlotte area within the next 5-6 months, I would like to know where would be a good place in the Charlotte area. I have an 8 years old son, so schooling is very important and we would like to be in a good community with lots of activities. I plan to purchase a home for $125-150K. Low crime, good schools, affordable housing, lots of entertainment. Thanks.

Let me suggest that you go to a reputable realtor website and look at homes in your price range and then look at the charlotte/mecklenburg website to coordinate with a low crime area. Send me a pm if you need more info on these sites.

Just being honest, in that price range don't plan to live in Charlotte. Choose instead either Concord, Gastonia, Clover or Harrisburg. You really can not live in Charlotte in a house in that price range is areas of good schools anymore. Good luck

Yes, I know houses can be found there in the upper reaches of her price range, but she is concerned about schools. Sorry, those areas have some iffy schools, in my opinion A single mom concerned about schools is much better off in Cabarrus county.

I have read that I could find good schools in Concord. How far is Concord from Charlotte? What towns are located in Cabarrus County? Is Concord in Cabarrus County. Is there much to do at either Concord or Cabarrus County?

Corcord borders the northeast corner of Charlotte. It is in Cabarrus county. In none peak traffic times you could get from Concord to uptown Charlotte in about 20 minutes. In addition to Concord, other Cabarrus county towns that you might want to check out are Harrisburg and Kannapolis. Concord is a nice little city - the actual location of NASCAR's Lowes Motor Speedway and home to one of the largest malls in the state.

Thanks a lot to everyone for your quick respond. How far is Concord, Gastonia, Clover and Harrisburg from Charlotte? Are any of these places located in Cabarrus County? How far is Cabarrus County from Charlotte?
The places that CharlotteAgent gave me within my price ranges are the close to Charlotte? How far is Huntersville from Charlotte? How family friendly are these places?

Have you thought about Union County? We are building in Indian Trail. Houses in the develpoment, Laurel Creek, start in $130K's. Taxes are a lot lower than Meck. County and have some great school systems, Porter Ridge. We are about 30 minutes from Charlotte. Also minutes from 74 which has great shopping. No HOA which means no common areas, so no pool or anything like that. But didn't know how important that is to you.

Default Relocating

I was looking to relocate to Charlotte within this year. However the high Crime rate has me reconsidering. The high crime rate is mostly in north Charlotte. I'm looking to purchase a new home or relatively new in the price range of200k-230k. A quality location is my main priority. Should i consider south Charlotte or Matthews,NC, Huntersville,NC or Fort Mill, SC on the border of Charlotte. I wish to live close to Charlotte for entertainment purposes sport team, restaurants, museums etc. Relocating from NYC.
