OK, in thread after thread, people have complained about the bread for making hoagies, subs, grinders, or whatever you called it where you came from, up north.
I found some rolls that seemed very good at Ingles. Last night I was out there & noticed a little sign that I'd missed, over them, Viera 3/$1.59. I thought Viera sounds familiar. Then it hit me. I've bought Viera rolls at Pathmark. No wonder they seemed fine!

Well, now we pretty much have the metro area covered, Ani. (Now if Trader Joe's will be so kind as to open up a store for the western end of the metro area.........)

Gosh, I wonder if they will? It was such a great day when they finally came here . . .
On the bread . . . does Ingles do mark downs on their bread? I have noticed there is a reluctance to do bread markdowns (day old bakery bread) around here. Or maybe it just gets snatched up b/f I see it. I do find some specialty breads marked down occasionally and buy everything I can get - cause I freeze it and it comes out really nice when I thaw it.

LOL, well, Ani, the Ingles in Kings Mountain is very new & people are still finding it. There are several Ingles out in this area, but I have no clue how long they've been open.
I've never seen the bread & rolls marked down, but a lot gets snatched up immediately. If any gets marked down it's gone between my visits.
The whole bakery area is certainly as complete as any I've seen in Jersey.

I thought it was worth posting that there is a store chain here that is selling rolls from a bakery that supplied Pathmark. Yes, it's a trek out here for most people on the board, but certainly closer than the nearest Pathmark or ShopRite.
I'm not close to Trader Joe's, but I'll make the occasional trek to get there. I have several thermal bags from Trader Joe's & freezer packs to use in them.
Bread is one of my areas of expertise. I can assure you that you can get excellent French loafs and bagetts at numerous places in Charlotte that is as good as you will find in any other place except maybe Miami. Good Cuban sandwiches are made with good Cuban Bread from either Yebor City or Miami. You might convince me that your begals are better because of water (LOL) but you can't BS me when it comes to bread or other than moma's Italian food. Even not so good imitations aren't too bad after a couple glasses of wine.
