So I'm just curious, as I drive down Providence Road going north toward the city, the older houses closer to the city have what looks like 2-3 inch tape bands with spikes in them wrapped around pretty much every older tree. I have only seen these in the older neighborhoods closer to the city. What the heck are they for?

Yes, did you see that huge 100yr old oak that fell on two homes?
One less tree to feast on.
Wonder if these lil critters had been a contributing factor?

Jeez, now you have me worried. I have two giant oaks in my backyard in Matthews. Do I need to band them to keep these things away.

bs13690 I'm sure the heavy winds and rain were mostly to blame.
I'm unsure.(pay no mind to the voice behind the curtain)
