I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did.

No doubt the economy played a part but they've been weakening themselves for years. I'm surprised they lasted this long as well.

No kidding, I want to switch out my electric stove and oven to gas, I hate cooking on electric.

Add 30,000 more to the unemployement numbers.

Sad to say, but they deserve to go. But I feel sorry for the 30K in people without a job.

Don't be so sure. If those people were working part time, they won't "count" because they won't collect unemployment insurance...

See how accurate Govco's numbers are?

But, then again, you'll still have some people on here who say "don't worry, there's still 92% of the population working".

Correct.
If Wal-Mart closed tomorrow (or nearly all big-box stores) it would hardly show a ripple in the unemployment numbers.
Corporate offices have full time people, but in the retail locations, most are part-time only.

But know that we are doing this to ourselves.
We each vote with our dollars and where we shop.

It's a shame that they are going under, but not really surprising. I would shop there only for "sale" items that I needed quickly. Their "regular" prices weren't always that good. I've found it to be a good deal cheaper to buy my major electronic purchases over the internet. Their biggest rival, Best Buy, is not in the best financial shape, either. The B&M electronics stores are losing the retail wars in a big way. I wouldn't be surprised to see a year from now, Best Buy ending up the same way. I just feel sorry for all those employees, but I suspect they knew it was coming. This is just another casualty, joining Lafayette Radio, Crazy Eddie's, The Wiz, Egghead and others into electronics oblivion.
