Hey Everyone. After a few visits to NC things are finally moving along for us. My wife's job in NH really stinks and we can't afford to live here anymore. We drove to Charlotte last weekend so I could line up a job for myself. I got the job so we are very excited. We are going to put our house on the market in the next couple weeks. What do y'all think about Kannapolis and Concord? I hear the schools are good and taxes low. Any opinions would be great.

We are looking in those areas too and we are from NH. I hate LIVING HERE. Congrats on your job.
Do you know what you are looking for in a town/city in NC? We had to narrow that down first. There are alot of great places and we are looking at a bunch. We are headed down this weekend for a week. (If the stupid snow does not stop are plane from taking off).
In your case it may depend on how long of a commute you may want to your job?

We are in Concord and my wife teaches in the system here. We enjoy it here and the schools system is very good. Where will you be working? That's a big consideration in looking for a place to live. There are fine towns in all directions!

There are many nice areas to live in around Charlotte.
Also, don't forget SC is just a few miles south of Charlotte.
Just don't forget to have that new home inspected.
Let me know if you would like more info. thanks

You're spoiled in the Granite state with low taxes... property taxes here are lower, but otherwise it's MUCH worse! 7% state income tax and 7.5% sales tax (in Mecklenburg).

Sorta depends on where your job is -- if it's in Mecklenburg, there are still some areas close to the city that are affordable, and in good school districts. Otherwise, Cabarrus schools are indeed pretty good. My only concern up there is the glut of inventory on the market and the builders continuing to add more.
