There is a Brasilian restaurant/market of some kind on Monroe Rd., just north of Hwy 51. It's on the west side of Monroe Rd. in a small strip mall. No idea what the name is or what it is inside, but I've seen the Brasilian flag on the sign by the road. Very interested to know what it's like!
So I drove by the corner of 51 and Monroe Rd. today. There are several Brasilian places there. The Supermercado Brasiliero (I think) and Pao Brasil, a bakery, are in a small strip mall on Monroe Rd just north of the intersection, on the west side. Right across Monroe Rd from those two is Coisas Do Brasil, but I couldn't tell what was in it. Good luck!
On Monroe and 51, there are 4 different Brasilian places. Three of them are located int he Hillside Plaza, they are supermarkets and bakery. Across the street there is a place, next to the $2.49 drycleaners called Coisas Do Brasil. I believe there is a restaruant on Independence Hwy--don't know the name.
I've been to Pao Brasil. They have bakery items & cooked food. There is a full menu that I didn't see until after I got my empanada thingys from the glass display case. I met the son of the woman that owns it. He speaks English perfectly so you can ask him a lot of food questions. He was really nice & gave me a Brazilian soda for free b/c he thought I would like it, which I did. If I lived over there I'd go more often. It's very casual, not a date place, just a place to chow down.
The address for the Brazilian restaurant on E. Independence is 4508 and its name is Brazas...it is a bar and grill. Several years ago there was a weekly show that would focus on different restaurants in the Charlotte area....and this was one of them. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to do a "test drive" (Yum)....but the show sure made it look very inviting.
I could have sworn there was a Brazillian Grill / BBQ uptown...did it close?
There is one uptown. It is called Chimas or something like that. It is on about the 200 block of South Tryon on the east side of the road. I believe it is just down from Dean and Deluca.
