Ohio here, but soon to be in Charlotte. Our finches have been back for a couple of weeks,l but our hummingbirds don't return until May usually. Too cold here, still. I am looking forward to milder weather and hopefully better plant-growing!
Yep---just saw my first little fellow day before yesterday. Flew right up to my kitchen window and looked me in the eye as if saying he was mighty hungry after his long flight---mind putting out a bit of the good stuff? Ha! So I put out my feeder and have been enjoying watching him now for a couple of days!!
It looks like I've got a camp of regulars at my three feeders again already. Lots of beautiful males too -- I didn't see many of them last year. I'm hoping they're return visitors! Maybe they were juveniles last year... My husband says they put out hobo signs on our yard that say "Nice lady, has nectar."
We've got 4-5 regulars, at least one male that I have seen.
One hummingbird website says to multiply by 3 the number of hummingbirds you see to get an estimate of how many you actually have visiting so that puts us to 12-15.
Yes, LOL!! I think the filter is especially sensitive to words it perceives as ethnic slurs!!! Cause there is some word I used . . . oh yeah! K raut! I wrote kraut and the filter didn't not like it!!! LOL!! (Well, looks like it took the word this time. Maybe my theory is wrong).
Back on topic . . . we saw two hummingbirds a week or two ago but none since!
