I read in one of the other threads that people go down to the South Park area and put chairs out early in the day for the summer concerts. Should we do that tomorrow also for the Independence Day concert? Does it work the same way?

I think you could, but there is so much room down in Memorial Stadium you really don't have to. Heck, you could sit in the bleachers even.

My personal favorite is the music and fireworks at South Park - VERY family friendly, very safe, just a nice crowd

yes, it is the South Park one I'm talking about. The memorial stadium is the uptown celebration?

Right, Memorial Stadium is where the uptown fireworks are best viewed from If you are going to South Park go out there at 8 or 9 in the morning to stake out your spot - leave your chairs and when you come back for the concert you'll be all set!

We saw the Charlotte Symphony a few weeks ago at Duke Energy Explorium on Lake Norman and then we saw them again just the other night at Bailey Road Park in Cornelius. Different program, great concerts! We brought our car show chairs, food and beer. Enjoy!

They even had an excellent fireworks display after the concert in Cornelius... on June 27

Wife was at southpark at 8:15 this morning and said all the "good" spots were already taken. 100+ people there! Its amazing how fast/big this concernt has grown over the few years we have been in Charlotte.

Side note: Does anyone know of a good 'secret' spot to watch the uptown fireworks from on Saturday? We have elderly grandparents in town with us and are affraid getting uptown will be too much of a hassle. I would appreciate any thoughts and you can send them to me via private message on the forum. Thanks!
