Anyone know the rule of what to do when you are at a broken traffic light. All the lights at my intersection this morning were red so people started taking turns going.

Is there a set amount of time you are supposed to wait or what? I guess in most case you wouldn't be sure they were all red but you can easily see all the lights except for the one above you. The one above doesn't have a left hand signal so I am pretty sure it was red as well.

Should be treated as a four way stop.

Hi!

A quick call to 311 will have someone out there to direct traffic until it's fixed.

It does seem that not many people know the proper way to proceed at a four way stops. Or that you actually have to stop at stop signs.

I've tried calling 311 to report stuff before and they have either transferred me around or kept me on hold for long periods of time.

The standard at any intersection not controlled is yield right. In other words, the person to the right of you has the advantage if you both reach the intersection at approx. the same time.

edit Of course, if it's a busy intersection and all cars are backed up at each road, then those with Concealed Carry have the right of way.

My question was more along the lines of at what point do you just give up waiting for the light to change and go. Normally, the light changes in a minute or two but today they were all red for a while.
