Sounds like gaston probably would not be a good bet for schools... now, talking about revitalizing a town...I know I love little shops... Once I am made of money...hahahehe I would love to open a little ecclectic shop with jewelry and things... sell stuff.. maybe some GOOD coffee... Christian Books... I need some money... thats what I need..

The only thing that has been revitalized in Gastonia is the County Tax office. The newest buildings there happen to be the courthouse and social services buildings. It is really sad to see how dowtown has deteriorated. Unlike Charlotte, which tears down anything and everything that doesn't fit their current goal of becoming a world class city, Gastonia fails to bring in new business downtown or maintain the upkeep of the old buildings. If you are going to open a small business I don't know if downtown Gastonia is the place to do it right now. Parking is terrible and people only go downtown now to pay taxes or go to court. I hope things change. Gastonia is not a suburb of Charlotte, Gastonia has its own identity both good and bad.

Downtown Gastoina is Plain Gross. The homeless run rampid and the store fronts are mostly vacant. I think downtown Gastonia consists of two or three blocks between Franklin and Long Street. There are many homeless near the greyhound station too.

I don't see a huge revitalization going on, because you can hop in your car and drive somewhere else for your services, except the City of Gastonia for your water and lights.
