I totally got what Etacarinae was saying! Just read it slowly.
Essentially, ETA is a gentleman and is turned off by how overly-sexualized our society has become. He is calling for a return to some R E S P E C T (imagine Aretha singing in the background).
And I don't see why all the women are getting upset, it's the women that are on the prowl not men.
It's 40 year old women looking for young men to give them an exciting night. And women call themselves cougars and are usually proud they can still attract a younger guy.
I myself and young and married so I don't obviously deal with the cougar scene but just commenting.
And the OP posted looking for someone to hang with that was older, I don't think he meant disprect

He may not have meant it in his OP, but it obviously came across that way to a lot of women who read it. And his post about 22 year olds - "****" is derogatory no matter how you slice it - didn't help him any. If anything, it would reinforce the perception of disrespect, since he obviously holds 22 year-old women in contempt.
Not all women are "on the prowl", and neither are all men sitting passively waiting for the women to "prowl" on by. Sweeping categorizations are sure to offend someone, since we're not all the same.
And as a further aside, what's the term for a 45 year old man looking for a 30 year old woman? Just because it's now "ok" for women to date younger men, why do we have to put a label on them at all? Because whether or not it's meant that way, it is derogatory to call a woman a cougar - just let her be a woman who found a man that made her happy, in whatever way, at whatever age.
I think people need to lighten up, for Pete's sake. I don't see the term Cougar as derogatory at all. You don't see "sugar daddies" getting their knickers in a twist over that term.
