Monroe is very quiet, and not much goes on there.

Schools are good if you are zoned for Porter Ridge, Sun Valley, or Parkwood.

Default Questions on Monroe, NC

Monroe has been great for us. We moved here from northern CA in January. This is a quiet place with very nice people. It is quite different from CA in a good way. Our neighbors are friendly and welcoming. The schools are just OK, I have found. There are a couple good charter schools Union Academy and Benton Heights but others don't have as a good a reputation.
The only thing I am not used to and not comfortable with is the racial tension against the Hispanic population. That troubles me. The natives talk to us about it but we stay away from discussing it. We weren't raised that way and don't agree. Otherwise we have enjoyed the transition a lot.
