It seems that you are saying any personal commentary opens one up to anyone's opinion - appropriate or not. So if my husband were Black and I were white, James would be justified in asking me if I were a n*** lover.
Am I misinterpreting?
actually it does....you know that it does.
Wearing something that someone thinks is awful and tacky opens yourself up
to less than nice comments. No matter what the comment is in reference to.
But it lacks character to say the least to cherry pick what one gets on a band wagon about as far as being nasty or not nice.
Leake had no place in the chambers interjecting her personal life story.
The bottom line to all of this is that one group is asking another group to
put aside their opinion/thoughts/beliefs to accommodate the other. One of the great things about this country is that we all can have an opinion and do have the right (thus far) to express it. It is topics such as these that separate the men from the boys. And I use that expression as it can pertain to ladies as well.
anything that anyone says in public is open for comment from others.
like it or not....
OK... I think you're agreeing with my statement that if I commented on my interracial marriage in the same type of public forum, I would be opening myself up to James or anyone else using that term with me.
Thanks for clarifying. I think that clears up any question as to where you are coming from.
Putting this in the context of what happened in this situation, if James had a tragically deceased son and Leake turned to James and and said, "so your son was a breeder," would that be okay?
Would I like it or in any way approve of it?
Absolutely not, but it would just be words from one kook and I would not dwell on it.
I'm afraid the Land of the Free has become the Land of the Offended and we need to get over it.
We need more John Wayne and less Scarlett O'Hara - less drama!
FWIW, it is not illegal to be or act like an idiot....yet.
