What are the best schools in Charlotte, NC? I have an elementary age child. I would like to hear about public and private schools in the area. We are coming from a wonderful public school system. I've heard Bain Elementary is top-notch. Would like to hear from the locals.

Thank You Kindly!

Bain Elementary in Mint Hill has always had a supurb reputation

In general, the majority of the best public and private schools are in south Charlotte. However, there are good, and bad, schools to be found all over the city.

In the CMS system the principal is the ruler of each school. If it has a good principal it shows. If it has a bad one (and there are some) who have alienated the staff and refuse to enforce the rules cause it makes him look bad the same school can go from good to bad fast. Find out about the principal.Talk to teachers "off the record" a school which has long term teachers leaving and going to other schools indicates an unfair principal who treats the teachers bad.

Are you interested in any of the surrounding counties? There are excellent schools in the smaller districts such as Cabarrus. I am sure others can speak about their counties, too.
