Any information on best areas for my husband and I (64 and 59) to relocate to on Lake Norman. He is a sailor...we love great restaurants, maybe a country club or sailing club close by so we can meet people and enjoy the area.

Children are grown so it's just the two of us. We cruised through some of the outlying suburbs one time and since we are not residents....hard to know what are the preferred areas. We are fortunate that we can buy a pretty darn nice house.

So, what areas to be on the Lake....close to clubs, etc so we can meet people....and close to restaurants and shopping. Any information will sure be appreciated!!

There is a sailing club near the end of one of the Unity Church Rd. areas in the Lincoln Co. area. It is also near the Cowans Ford area that has a country club. But for lots of choices for restaurants and shopping, you will want to come back east on Rt. 73 into Mecklenburg Co.

You didn't indicate a budget, which makes all the difference on recommendations. Assuming you meant "pretty darn nice" as above $500K, I would check out The Point.

The Point, Lake Norman, Greg Norman golf, Charlotte Homes

You didn't say where you are from, but this area is chock full of transplants, many from NY and especially Long Island.

I would just have a chat with a real estate agent about desirable areas. I'm not a real estate agent. But, I am working with a really awesome one right now and I know she is familiar with the Lake Norman real estate market.

I think you'll enjoy the house you get for the money in any part of the Charlotte area. Are you looking for a house or a condo? I'm selling a condo on the lake, so I've had recent experience w/real estate agents in the area. I'm kindof high maintenance in the real estate department,
