Hi, I'm a college student in North Carolina, graduating very soon, in early December. I will be certified in K-12 music and looking for an elementary music teacher position in either a public or private school(s). I have completed a few applications but I do not have many connections in the area so I'm wondering if anyone knows of who I may contact or has any suggestions to get my foot in the door? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm looking forward to moving it looks like a beautiful area!!

Are you limiting yourself to just Charlottesville?

Hello,

This link VDOE :: Careers in Virginia Education will take you to the state education department. They list job opportunities state wide, although extensive it's not all inclusive. Once you identify a school system(s) you would like to work in then you can visit the districts site to see if there are more opportunities available.

This site will also tell you what licensing requirements are needed in Virginia....

No I'm not limiting myself to just Charlottesville, but the somewhere within driving distance, within surrounding counties wouldn't be bad either.

Thanks for the help to those responding!

When I go on to different district websites, they have links that show their current job openings. Most don't have many openings now, but in the spring they will start popping up. I'm sure they don't post every opening, but it might give you an idea what's out there, how large the counties are, etc.

What do you consider "driving distance" to Charlottesville? That would give an idea about how the are in which you could look.
