do you think that there were many customers who were caught between wanting to get a Monte Carlo or save a little $$ and get a Laguna, same thing with the Luxury LeMans and Grand Prix?
did the Laguna have the same amount of room inside as the Monte? Both had swivel seats i recall and the same dashboards and luxury trim
The Laguna pretty much had the same interior as a Monte. I'd be willing to bet they were equally spacious. The Monte obviously was more of a luxury coupe than the Laguna or any of the Chevelles/Malibus of that era.
I don't know if there was anyone torn between a Laguna and a Monte in those days.

WOW, that is some old car talk for sure!
Cool . I can recall the 1st time I saw the Laguna.......sweet !
I loved all of the mid size and full size GM vehicles of the 70s.
I saw a 77 Delta 2 door on CL. Had a sport package of some sort, buckets, rally wheels etc..
Oh, the early 70s Grand Am was my favorite.
the upgraded Lemans in the late 60's-70's was the kick a$$ GTO and GTO Judge
ahh the sound of carbed V-8
Good video! Yes, I also love the sound of a carbed (and high-compression) V-8.
I always did like the '69 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ. With the 428 engine (390 horsepower) it could run low-14s in the 1/4 mile even with its 4,000-lb+ weight.
Ghostrider: The Delta 88 you are referring to probably was a Delta Holiday 88. It was a special model that year equipped as you described with buckets, console shift and rally wheels.
I remember this well because I turned 16 in 1977 and my dad took me car shopping for my first car. We looked at a Delta Holiday 88, but I had my heart set on, and got, a new '77 Buick Regal Limited 2 door.
Nice to see these cars get some appreciation. Granted the earlier ones were better, but would love to have a GTO, '73 Chevelle with later Laguna nose, 442 or H/O with t-tops, etc.
I would think the Laguna coupe would have had less room inside than the Monte as it had the 112" wheelbase as opposed to the Monte's 116", shared with the Chevelle sedans and wagons. I also think people just stuck with the Monte and Prix- the Laguna was pretty rare. leMans production was also low compared to the Grand Prix.
