It amazes me how few open mikes I've been able to find in DuPage County. Whenever I find a listing for open mikes on websites or in free magazines, most of them are inactive. The only one I know of is Ballydoyle's in DG, but it's only once a week. Without heading to Chicago in order to play a few songs on my acoustic guitar and sing, does anyone know of other open mikes in the area? Thanks in advance!

Thanks. Those are a hike for me, though. Anything in the Lombard area that anyone knows about? Or should I start my own?

I'd pickup one of those suburban nitelife magazines they have at many bars. They list the open mics in the area, also that way you can also call ahead to make sure they still have them.

A little further out west, there are two I know of at two Borders bookstores:

1) St. Charles Borders, every second Friday of the month, 7-9 pm

2) Algonquin Borders, last Friday of the month, 8-10 pm

Just show up with your guitar and sign-up. They provide their own PA systems.

I just saw an email that the open mike in sugar grove at Open Range is on Wednesday evenings. I also saw that Four Beans Coffee House in Batavia has an open mic. I did not get the day.

There is a great Irish Pub called Ballydoyle and they have open mike every Wednesday at 8:30pm. There is a location in Aurora off of Main Street and they got great food and music. there’s a resort near the Aurora location called the Pheasant Run and the rates are pretty decent. They got a great comedy club called Zanies which just hosted a Comedy Boot Camp with Louie Anderson.
