I use to live in Kenwood awhile ago. I don't see anything wrong with the Bronzeville area. I would walk sometimes from the Green Line on 47th to get home at night and would not be scared. People forget that Chicago is a major city and problems exist anywhere in it. Kenwood had all types of people living there. Possibly the most diverse area of Chicago. My parents moved me to an area similar to 43rd and St Lawrence and they were not quite sure if they would allow me to live their on my own being sheltered like I was. Then we saw an older white lady walk past a group of young black boys, mind you I am black, so I am familiar with the perennial custom of clutching the purse. She did not. That was a great lesson for me. Don't make yourself a victim. Be aware of your surroundings and don't make people think you have anything. My parents always said don't give anyone a reason to want what you have, in other words keep it simple and be humble.
