What's the best place to look for a house that's commutable to Irving Park?

I am a single person and am looking for a small 2 bedroom house around 100,000.

Any ideas? I'd like to keep it in the Northern area as my corporate location is in Waukegan that I will have to visit once in a while.

Thanks!

Need a more realistic budget and better details on where you are going to work.

Irving Park Road is a thoroughfare that runs past O'Hare Airport to the lakefront, about 2 miles. In the run down suburbs under the O'Hare flight path you probably could not get a home that is livable in your budget and in the nicest parts of Chicago you would need 3X your budget. There are probably some condos with asking prices in your budget but they are not financable as the HOA is broke and too many units are vacant. Cash only...

Getting from the area near O'Hare to Waukegan could take nearly two hours in even "normal" rush hour traffic, probably need to focus on a better location.

Your post is confusing. Irving Park is a street in Chicago on the north side and is many miles away from "North Chicago" which is near Waukegan. Are you looking to live in the Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago, or are you looking to live near North Chicago which is miles and miles away from the actual City of Chicago? In any case, it will be hard to find any house for 100 k in the city of Chicago unless its a foreclosure in any decent area. Condos maybe.

There are numerous properties (condos) in Skokie, Des Plaines, and to a lesser extent Morton Grove in that price range. Depending upon your standards and requirements (garage, in unit laundry, etc) you can find many condos above or under $100,000.

If you are working in the neighborhood of Irving Park (around the Irving-Pulaski junction) Skokie would have an easier commute via I-94.
