Help...Palos Heights, Palos Hills or Orland Park or ? (Chicago: condo, townhome)

Hubby and I are considering relocating back to Chicago area after having been gone for 20 years. Job is in Palos Heights. We do not want a very long commute and need to consider schools as we have 4 children (1 elementary, 1 middle and 2 High school). Good schools along with a family community feel are important. We need help on where to live. We are thinking Palos Heights, Palos Park or Orland Park. Are we on the right track?

1. Budget: Under 300K. I know that is not much for the Chicago area but it is all that we can afford for now.

2. House/Condo/Townhome? House in a safe, family friendly area so my kids can easily meet other kids in the neighborhood. We are prepared to need to greatly downsize. We can do small but not a fixer upper.

3. Children (public school vs. private): Committed to public school education. Have 4 children: 1 in elementary school, 1 in middle school and 2 in high school. Education is important but so is a balanced education of life.

4. Easy access to public transit, important or not? No preference

5. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood. family friendly, safe for kids to play outside with friends, community feel and sidewalks would be a plus.

6. Commute: Prefer to be within 20 or so minutes
