We've lived in Crystal Lake for 21 years now, and in our current residence for the last 14 of those years. Been renting the whole time and plan to continue doing so. Right now, we live in a condo that we rent from an individual owner. It was a pretty nice place to live for a while, but we've had some neighbors move in in the last few years that are loud, rowdy, and rude, and we are getting tired of the noise and disruption. Also, renters aren't really welcome here, and we've been made to feel like second class citizens in a lot of ways (long, long story that I will not go into now. Between those two factors, we've decided we'd be happier somewhere else and it's time to move on.

We're looking to relocate to another rental, most likely an apartment, elsewhere in Crystal lake or possibly Woodstock. Our biggest problem is expense, as housing is costly here. Any apartment that has the amount of room we have now is going to cost us more than our current rent, especially in Crystal Lake; and houses cost WAY more than apartments.

We have an adult daughter who's still living at home while she pays down her college loans, so we need two bedrooms (I'd prefer 3, but the prices shoot up SO much when you go from 2 to 3 bedrooms), and we'd prefer to have 2 baths (I admit we're spoiled in that regard, since there's only 3 of us; but that's what we're used to, and it's a luxury we'd rather not give up.) Also, any place we live has to be pet-friendly; our cat is a member of the family, and where we go, he goes, too.

My husband would prefer to live in Crystal Lake, as his job is here; but we have found that rents in Woodstock tend to be less, so we're looking there, too. One place we've been looking at closely is an apartment complex in Woodstock called Prairie View[/url]). They have at least one floor plan that would work pretty well for us, and some nice amenities, including a gym and both indoor AND outdoor pools, which is pretty unusual. If anyone reading this is familiar with that complex, I'd be interested to hear anything you can tell me about it. Thanks in advance.

I did the commute from Woodstock - Crystal Lake for 15 years. While it is one of the shorter commutes in the Chicagoland area, it gets OLD very quickly. Do realize that Woodstock does NOT have the shopping opportunities that you have in Crystal Lake.

I am not familiar with Prairie View. I would also look at the apartment complex at the corner of US-14 and IL 47. A developer bought that property about eight years ago, shut the place down and completely remodeled ALL the apartments. The places are pretty nice.

AT the price that some of the Woodstock condos are currently selling, you might want to look at buying.
