I am looking into buying a house in Plainfield. I work at the Argonne National Lab. How bad is the traffic on I-55 during rush hours? What are the alternate routes if I want to avoid I-55? Thanks.

go to the Waze website and plug in the addresses and the times you would be traveling, it will give you a general idea and it also shows 3 different routes. There's also a Waze app I use when driving that provides real time estimates and will change your route if things start backing up. I had a long commute for several months and it was a real help.
