I dont know the city or suburbs very well. I am currently leasing an apartment for 3 months near O'hare so I can find a nice place.

My job is in Downers grove near 88/Highland Park. I am single and 30+ and I am not sure where to live. My co-workers are suggesting me to live in the city, but where?.... Me in the other side is afraid of the driving time since I am not a morning person. So ..

Where in the suburbs is a good place to live for a single person?. .. I would like to meet other people.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks

i would check the naperville, lisle, downers grove area. I haven't been single for a long time, but there are a lot of apartments in that area with places to go out etc.

I lived in DG for 13 years. I am currently 28 and now in Bolingbrook(dont move there). Downers Grove is nice, but expensive and not much to do in that particular town, but Naperville is near by and that is a big city and has a lot to do. By the city is a whole different story. Definatley a lot to do, but very expensive and congested. Traffic wouldnt be as bad coming from the city. It takes me about 1 hour to get downtown, sometimes longer. Where your job is located sounds like it is close to Lombard (by Yorktown Mall?) That is an okay area too.

I used to live in Lisle, right off Ogden Ave. I worked in Naperville, and the commute times were very short. And I went to school in Glendale Heights. Overall, I enjoyed Illinois. I didn't enjoy the winters though. And all the FREAKIN TOLL ROADS!

Well, it depends on what you want. Downtown Naperville is close to DG and is pretty good for singles, but I'm not sure what your price range is. If your work is close to the metra in DG, living in Chicago proper would be an option that wouldn't be too bad of a commute (via train....car to DG is bad!). Oak Park is another good option.
