There is not a significant concentration of South Asians near Libertyville.

OTOH, the area and schools are great. Just find an apartment you like in the immediate area. Vernon Hills would be acceptable as well IMHO.

There are larger Indian populations in Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove, and probably Long Grove - to the south of Libertyville. Kids who live in any of the towns mentioned so far (Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Buffalo Grove (Lake County side), Lincolnshire, Long Grove) would attend some of the best schools in the state - and in some cases, the country. So there should be no concerns with schools if you stick to these towns. All are great. As for apartments, Vernon Hills probably has more apartments than all of the other towns mentioned combined. In fact, there is a new apartment complex that has just been built within the Melody Farms "lifestyle" center" on the northeast corner of Routes 21 and 60 in Vernon Hills. The center opened just last week. However, you should be able to find a house or townhouse to rent in any of them (except possibly Long Grove).

I have no idea of the Indian or South Asian population in any specific complex. I will say that for this area, your budget is going to be a challenge for a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment, and definitely for a townhouse. For example, a 2 bedroom 2 bath unit in the Mellody Farms complex I mentioned starts at well over $2000/month - plus utilities. At the place across the street (Mil Ton, formerly Amli) a 2 bedroom 1 bath would start at around $1800 plus utilities. There can be additional charges for parking and pets. You are probably going to need to compromise on something whether that be budget, or location.

Focusing only on the budget, you might want to look west to a place like Grayslake. Schools are a notch or two lower but still pretty good and the commute to Libertyville would not be bad. I have no idea about South Asian population over there.
