We used a couple agents to try to find us a house, apartment, or townhome that accepts pets for quite some time without any real success. HOwever, schedules being what they are, and hard deadlines dictating it, we left Oregon without any place to move to. 4 days of driving and we're in Naperville with the truck...and no place to unload.

Tired as can be, and hungry, I used google to find us a Thai restaurant, and we went to eat. While there, waiting for the food, I fired up the Craigslist app, to see a townhome listed in Warrenville, in our price range. Sent an email, and a half hour after we left the restaurant, a phone call from the landlord.

Sure enough, she met us, we looked it over, and said we'd call in the morning. In the morning, we called back, signed the papers, and started moving in.

In just 29 hours of crossing the state line, we had found a house, and had put our stuff into it. We're in a small development, nice folks, very quiet, very nice landlords.

You can't beat that.

I actually answered the ad 6 minutes after it was posted, that ad being the first Craiglist ad the owner had ever posted.

Welcome to 21st century. Using agents is now outdated. Use rent.com or apartments.com or craigslist and you could have bunch of options to choose from.

I haven't used an agent to look for a rental in well over 10 years. The last agent I used was when I bought my house.

Wow that's great! you were very lucky. I'm thinking you were meant to end up living there that is an extraordinary set of events. Wish i could find something decent like that on Craigslist. All i seem to get is scams :S

Pet friendly landlords are becoming harder and harder to find. You got lucky. Congrats.

We have accounts and scoured them, as well.

The one agent went above and beyond the call of duty, including visiting the places personally and inspecting before we arrived, but we lost out on several places by hours or minutes.
