My husband has just accepted a temporary position with his company, working in the Hinsdale area.

Hinsdale is beautiful - but it's extrememly expensive. Taxes are normally in the 15-18k range on most homes. Very nice downtown as well. My wife and I frequent it quite often.
There isn't much by way of rentals. I would be cautious of the few rentals there are - haven't read many good things about them.

The last time I was there (few weeks ago), I noticed a few homes for rent. You might want to go that route as opposed to an apartment complex.
