I'm wondering if anyone can recommend neighborhoods in Barrington. We are moving to the area and have a 16-month-old, so an area with lots of kids would be preferable. Thank you!

Everyone has kids in Barrington. Be more specific.

Okay- well, we're willing to spend up into the 8's (but would prefer something cheaper, of course). We would like an area that has more young people with babies and little children. We would like to be in Barrington (not North, South, Hills or Lake). Otherwise pretty open-minded, just looking for some suggestions to start our search. Thank you!

The Village (downtown Barrington area) is a great option. Walking to town/park/schools/library is a plus. But,anywhere in Barrington has families and dont forget, you will meet many thru the school/park district programs. We lived rather secluded in the Hills and never had a problam with finding kids/families. There are so many areas/sub divisions that fit that description and price range, simply telling your realtor your priority for families will do the trick.

Hough St. (called rt 59 away from town) and Lake Cook is kind of a "center" of downtown. Village Housing surrounds. (Lake st.,Cook,Grove,Dundee to name just a few) Not sure if past rt 14 is considered town/Village, but it is walking distance.
Really, your realtor can help (should help) with this and make it more clear.

Consider Fox Point with its own private pool, tennis and lake. There are hundreds of kids who call Fox Point Home and enjoy swim lessons, swim team, dive team, water polo tean, tennis lessons and social activities.

It's less than a mile east of the train station, along Lake-Cook Road, between NW Hwy and Ela Road.

Glen Acres , just west of town is another nice family area with a New England feel to it.
