I am planning to relocate to Chicago after I complete my education and I am looking for clean, safe neighborhoods that have relatively (read: built after mid-1980s) housing stock. I am looking exclusively for non-attached housing.

I presently live in a neighborhood that looks like this:

Google Maps

It would also be helpful if it was close to the freeway so I can have easy access to Chicago or the Loop for cultural and recreation purposes. It will also be helpful if it is close to a grocery store but these are optional and not required.

If you want to live in the suburbs and have easy access to the city, you're better off living in a city with a Metra stop. I would also recommend posting this in the Chicago Suburbs forum if you are looking for information about a Chicago Suburb.

^ There are like 3 threads this guy posted. ^

I think this is the one you are speaking of:

Best neighborhoods for new housing stock.

Thus a merge is in order and a rename of the original thread.
