For the love of god, I cannot remember why I missed filing the state tax return for 2009. I filed the federal online and did the paper filing for IL but never mailed it. I am surprised I havent got anything from the state for this.

What do I do now? Simply mail it or do i have to pay a fine or any other paperwork I need to do? Please help!

I would call a CPA or Springfield. One of the two can tell you how to do this. Most CPA's have current tax forms and are familar with any updated rules. I would do it soomer than later, and I would be prepared to pay a penalty.

Well, this will probably determine how much they care, did you owe the State mo ey or were you getting a return. If a return I bet they wo t care as much but you'll wait a longer time for your money. If you owe money, I bet they'll be happy to hammer you.

I did the same thing in 2008. I did get a refund though so no penalties were issued. I got my check in about 6 weeks.
