I am visiting Chicago in a few weeks and wanted to also check out some neighborhoods while I was there. I am thinking of possibly moving to Chicago and this trip would play a big role in that.

I am interested in primarily black and/or latino neighborhoods. I understand that some of the "urban" neighborhoods might be a rougher than others but I don't mind. I would prefer to live in a black ( but relatively safe) or latino (but safe) area. I live in a inner city now so I have street smarts.

Any suggestions on neighborhoods I should visit while I'm there ?? What train I would take and where to get off ?? I am interested in Rogers Park / Humbolt Park because on Craigslist these places seem to have the cheapest rent and still " in the city " am I correct in this thinking ???

Chicago rents seem wayy cheaper than overpriced Boston ! lol

This would really help me out ! Thanx !

I live in Humboldt Park, and would say its' worth checking out, just stay north of Division and East of Homan/Kimball. Some would say east of Kedzie, but that slice of HP along North Ave is on par with the east part of the park IMO.

Overall Rogers Park is better served by the EL than Humboldt Park
and consequently has a better future.

EL = more gentrification on average.

You need to check out Hyde Park, Kenwood and Woodlawn.

This question is almost exactly the same as the one you asked in the other thread you created. Your questions about black and Latino neighborhoods have been answered in that thread... I'm not really seeing the point of this one aside from adding the Rogers Park question in.

To go to Rogers Park, take the Red Line north towards Howard. Get off at Loyola, Morse, Jarvis, or Howard.
