I'm looking for some Jazz bars, and I'm looking for stuff that's not Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin or a "jazz" bar where there's a token guy on a piano playing Elton John or Toto. It seems like all the "Jazz" bars here are like this, except a few..

I'm thinking more of stuff like John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, etc. Love some of the blues bars, but what are some good Jazz bars like I've described here? Besides Green Mill and Andy's downtown

I was going to say Green Mill, but it looks like you already have that one. I'm not sure how many true jazz bars you expect a city that isn't New York or New Orleans to have in this day and age, but I, too, would be interested to know if there are others out there.

http://velvetloungechicago.com/index.html << Used to be a great jazz joint, was owned by local legendary jazz artist Fred Anderson. Fred passed away last year and now it looks like all dj's except Sunday, shame, shame shame.

Nice. Thanks all. Will definitely need to check some of those out. By the way, are any of them in an INTERESTING setting? I'm thinking of the last time I was in DC, I went to a place called Bohemian Caverns on U Street.. Kind of famous place I think

Bohemian Caverns - the home of jazz in Washington DC

It's in the basement of this place and it seriously looks like a cave, although the "cave walls" are not real. It was a pretty awesome setting though. Anything like it in town? If not, how cool would it be to have something like that here?
