Check it out, the Trib says his ward is full of hipsters -- Chicago alderman wants to block Chick-fil-A from opening in his ward - Chicago Tribune

Gaywatch - Holdouts Edition - The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - 07/23/12 - Video Clip | Comedy Central

Personally I love Chik-Fil-A and I suspect that any business that has managed to thrive while closing on one of the busiest days for such places really has bigger things to worry about...

Chick-fil-A

Who ever dreamed up this thing should get like a "Oscar of Fast Food" -- Most Incredible breakfast item ever People in Chicago a right to this culinary joy -- http://www.chick-fil-a.com/Media/Img...rain-Bagel.png

I think lots of folks in Logan Square and the rest of the Proco's ward are big time church goers and an opponent could really make a case that Proco is not the right guy to represent 'em...

While I agree with Moreno overall, and don't find chik-fil-a any good, outside their backwards bible-thumper views and donations, this is another reason why aldermanic privilege has to go.

You shouldn't be prevented from opening a business in Chicago because one alderman disagrees with you.

I don't have an opinion one way or another on gay marriage (don't care), but for an alderman to put his personal bias in front of development and jobs for his community, it's irresponsible and counterproductive.

Let the market determine if this place will succeed or fail. If the really thinks he's representing the views of his ward, then let his consituents spend their money elsewhere and Chik-Fil-A will realize it wasted it's investment and will have learned their lesson. (something tells me that won't happen though and the place would be successful).

Liberals always claim tolerance and diversity except when someone has a difference of opinion from theirs.

This is reasonable.

This will only draw more businesses to his ward...Logan Square is blowing up with new locally based businesses precisely because it isn't the place where this kind of crap is welcome.

He's just grandstanding after what he saw Meneno in Boston do. Are there porno shops in Logan Square? I would bet there is. The alderman's values are OK with selling videos of an 18 year old get trained by 30 guys but he's going to valiantly defy fast food served by someone with a different religion than he is.

He should also toss out all the muslim restaurant owners in that case as they are also against homosexuality.

He is either a giant hypocrite or frighteningly stupid.

yep, Logan remains one of, if not the hottest place to open a restaurant/bar in the city. No reason for outrage here.

Big difference between "difference of opinion" and your money is going directly to pay for lobbying of a cause you find disgusting. The alderman is grand standing to be sure. Put the damn restauarant there if they want. I would just urge anyone who's against discrimination to never go.

I've been telling people this about chick-fil-a for like 5 years.
