ChiNaan, like you I have been laughing and crying inside, at the lack of reading comprehension skills displayed on this thread. We just assume the OP was confused, and basically ignore his request and answer whatever question we want.

It's as if we want to show how smart we are, by listing every possible delay that might happen on the way to the airport. Based on this list, the OP should leave the previous day to ensure arrival at 7:30pm!

It's truly bizarre, isn't it? I'm convinced many people come to threads with their own "answers" to type, with no regard to whether they are answering the question being asked or their own internal made-up question.

I would leave at 5:30 to be absolutely sure of getting there by 7:30 in a car.

You will probably be *way* early.

The question that has not been asked is: what are the consequences of missing the flight? A one hour wait for the next flight? A night in the airport? A missed vacation or job opportunity?

Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for your advice.
I just came back from Chicago. I'd like to share my actual time record of my previous question.
I reallly appreciate your responces.

1. Departure at 4:05 PM from Universiy Chicago, on Monday (12/10)
2. Rental Car return at O'hare airport (Alamo) at 5:10 pm
3. Riding a shuttle bus of Alamo/National rental car at 5:20 pm
4. Arrived at O'hare airport at 5:35pm (I had to waite in the shuttle bus for a long time)
5. Clearance of Security check and then arriving at a departure gate at 6:05pm (I already printed out my boarding pass (no waiting for checking out in the desk), but had to walk from security check to the departure gate)

I hope this helps everyone visiting Chicago downtown and other places.

So despite asking for advice and finding out that 90 minutes would have been more than enough the OP was more than 1:20 early...

And we still don't know why the OP asked to "arrive at OHare at 7:30pm." Was the flight AT 7:30, or was the flight at 8:30pm?

This thread cracks me up on so many levels...

Do you really think anyone would ask to arrive at an airport at the time of their flight departure?

This ain't rocket science, people.

So the OP left UofC at 4:05pm, for an 8:30pm (or later) flight? Now that's what I call cautious!

My flight's departure schedule was 8:13 pm. I don't know when the plane took off exactly.

When I posted my question, I thought the boarding time might be around 7:30pm, but its real boarding time was from 7:38 pm.

Because I had to eat a dinner in the airport and worried about some mistake during my driving from UC to O'hare (as I mentioned, this was my first visiting in Chicago), I left UC early, 4:05pm.
