I have friends who've lived half a block from that building for over three years. Never had a problem.

I've got a friend who lives in Noble Square / Uk. Village. He got a huge, beautiful condo for a screaming deal, and IMO, his neighborhood is great - TONS to do, safe to walk around, etc. We usually hang out at night, and I've never felt unsafe around there. There are little patches of "grit" but overall, it's a fun, cool, safe neighborhood. (I usually take the green line to Ashland, to get to/from his neighborhood, since I'm in Oak Park. It's a little sketchy, but I've never had any issues, even late at night.)

They are absolutely pissed, and it seems to me from a few visits that they've put that energy into making really, really good subs.

Try the Italian first with hot giardiniera, then the meatball next. Maybe skip breakfast, too.
